Interested in woodworking but not sure where to start? Then this hands-on course is for you! In EcoStudio’s ‘Introduction to Woodworking’, students will learn basic woodworking skills while learning how to build a wooden box.
course objectives
Participants will develop an understanding of the following concepts:
Learn about the properties of wood: hardness, grain, and different qualities to look for when planning for your project.
Familiarize yourself with a wide variety of hand tools, including: saws, planes, chisels, rasps and files.
Develop joinery skills and learn how to apply hardware, including hinges and locks.
Learn how to safely use a band saw, router and drill press.

Learn about properties of wood choice
Learn about tools cutting wood to specific size
Learn about joinery
Day 2:
Assemble your box
Add details and design work
Day 3:
Learn how to apply hardware
Learn about personalizing and finishing techniques: engravings, paints, etc.

Please note that open-toed shoes are not allowed at EcoStudio.
Participants must provide a copy of their insurance policy prior to commencing course.
PARTICIPANTS MUST PRINT AND SIGN FAB LAB ECOSTUDIO WAIVER PRIOR TO COMMENCING COURSE. WAIVER IS SENT TO PARTICIPANT UPON REGISTRATION FOR COURSE. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Cancellation policy
EcoStudio reserves the right to cancel or postpone a course at any time, including but not limited to, lack of participation, classroom, equipment or trainer availability.
If full payment is not received three days prior to course commencement EcoStudio reserves the right to relinquish participant’s reservation.
Cancellations received less than 5 business days prior to course commencement will only receive credit towards a future course.
Cancellations received 3 days prior to course commencement will only be reimbursed 50% of the course fee.
No-shows will be invoiced the full course fee.
