In EcoStudio’s ‘Laser Cutting 101′ participants will learn the basics of laser cutting, including how to etch, engrave and cut designs. Learn to safely operate EcoStudio’ industrial CO2 laser cutter for your own projects!
NOTE: Students must demonstrate their ability to safely operate EcoStudio’s laser cutter to be granted individual access to the machine upon course completion.
course objectives
Participants will develop an understanding of the following concepts:
Understand important safety precautions of laser cutting, including: machine maintenance and troubleshooting, laser power and speed;
Understand materials that can and cannot be used with EcoStudio’s laser and conduct a variety of tests on different materials;
File creation and preparation; laser preparation and cleanup.

Day 1:
Understanding the basics and safety of laser cutting, including: maintenance, laser power, and speed.
Participants will test cuts with different materials and begin working on designs.
Day 2:
Continue modifying designs to test on the laser cutter;
Perform trial and error cuts;
Produce and assemble final product.

pre-requisite
None; however, basic experience using 3D or graphic design programs such as Illustrator, Sketchup, AutoCad, Revit, or Rhinoceros are helpful.

EcoStudio recommends wearing clothing you don’t mind getting dirty.
Closed-toed shoes are a must.

Please note that open-toed shoes are not allowed at EcoStudio.
Participants must provide a copy of their insurance policy prior to commencing course.
PARTICIPANTS MUST PRINT AND SIGN FAB LAB ECOSTUDIO WAIVER PRIOR TO COMMENCING COURSE. WAIVER IS SENT TO PARTICIPANT UPON REGISTRATION FOR COURSE. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Cancellation policy
EcoStudio reserves the right to cancel or postpone a course at any time, including but not limited to, lack of participation, classroom, equipment or trainer availability.
If full payment is not received three days prior to course commencement EcoStudio reserves the right to relinquish participant’s reservation.
Cancellations received less than 5 business days prior to course commencement will only receive credit towards a future course.
Cancellations received 3 days prior to course commencement will only be reimbursed 50% of the course fee.
No-shows will be invoiced the full course fee.
